Does it run on a Mac?
Yes. Ohmbid runs in any modern browser on Mac or Windows, with nothing to install. You can also open a bid on an iPad to walk a job with the customer.
Where do the material prices come from?
From your supply house. Upload their price sheet or a quote as Excel or CSV and Ohmbid matches it to your parts. Every price keeps the date it came in, so you can see what's current before a bid goes out.
Do I have to build my assemblies from scratch?
No. Ohmbid comes loaded with assemblies for residential and light commercial work, from receptacles and can lights to service changes and EV chargers. Change any part or labor hour once and every bid after uses your version.
Do you have a live price feed like Trade Service or EPIC?
No, and we don't plan one. Those feeds cost about $1,260 a year per user and list national prices you fix by hand anyway. Ohmbid prices from the sheet or quote your own supply house sends you, with the date on every price. If your shop needs a live feed, a desktop bid program is the right buy.
Do you use NECA labor units?
No. Ohmbid ships with its own starter labor hours set for residential and light commercial work, which most small shops find closer to real life. You adjust them to match your crew.
Can I bid commercial work?
Light commercial, yes: tenant fit-outs, small retail and office work, with EMT runs, boxes and fixtures by count and length. Large commercial projects with several estimators are better served by the big desktop programs.
When does my account open, and when am I charged?
We're opening accounts to shops in small groups this fall. You reserve a plan now with no card. We email you the day your account opens, and billing starts when you first log in. Cancel anytime from your account.
Does it do service calls, flat-rate pricing or load calcs?
No. Ohmbid is for bids from plans. Keep your field service app for service work and your permit tool or engineer for load calculations.
